A note from Sharon

Sharon Caruso — Curly Hair Specialist

Hi, I’m Sharon — and I’m so glad you’re here.

You’re receiving this newsletter because you’re part of the Curls by Caruso community — whether you’ve sat in my chair, found me online, or were sent here by someone who cares about your hair as much as I do. Either way, welcome. This is a space created just for you.

Each month I’ll be sharing what I know from 19 years behind the chair — the real conversations, the honest truths, and the things I wish every curly-haired person knew before their next appointment. No fluff. No trends. Just what actually works.

Simple, honest, and always from the heart.

Who is Sharon?

“Hi, I’m Sharon — a curly hair specialist, gemologist, and custom jewelry designer. I’m an artist at heart who finds joy in sculpting hair, metal, and wax. I’m passionate about eating well and taking care of the body, mind, and soul. With this newsletter, my intention is to share my personal tips, knowledge, and experience across all of my passions — and to help you achieve your curly hair goals.”

What to expect

Restore. Protect. Promote.

Over the coming months we are going to cover everything — from restoring your curl health from the inside out, to protecting what you’ve built, to promoting the growth and confidence you deserve. Each issue will feel like a conversation between friends. Because that is exactly what it is.

And I’ll leave you with this for now — your scalp has a story too. We’ll get there.

Let’s clear two things up right now

“Shampooing dries out my hair.”

Actually, the opposite is true. Not shampooing enough causes buildup that blocks moisture from ever reaching your hair shaft. Clean hair absorbs. Dirty hair repels.

“My hair just doesn’t grow.”

Your hair is growing — from the roots. Look at your roots right now. Smooth, defined, healthy. Now look at your ends. That’s the story of maintenance. Hair grows approximately half an inch per month. What stops it from looking longer is split ends breaking off as fast as it grows. We’ll talk much more about this next month.

“Your curls are not the problem. They never were.”

— S. Caruso

Nourish from within

What Your Hair Is Hungry For

Great hair starts long before it reaches your scalp. Here are three foods I personally love and recommend for hair health:

Eggs — rich in biotin and protein, essential for hair strength and growth.

Avocado — packed with healthy fats and Vitamin E for deep scalp nourishment.

Fatty fish (salmon, sardines) — loaded with omega-3s that support hair growth from the root up.

Crystal of the month

Lapis Lazuli

Lapis Lazuli Pendant by S. Caruso

Lapis Lazuli is the stone of truth, wisdom, and clarity. It has been worn by royalty and seekers for thousands of years — a reminder to speak honestly, see clearly, and trust your own inner knowing.

For our first issue, there is no more fitting stone. Beginning a journey — with your hair, with yourself — requires exactly that. Honesty. Clarity. Intention. This pendant is one of my own designs, and Lapis Lazuli has always been one of my favorites. I hope it brings you the same sense of grounded calm it brings me.

Curated by Caruso

This month’s food focus: Eggs, avocado, and fatty fish — try adding at least one to your plate every day this month and notice how your hair responds over time.
A reminder I live by: “Discipline. Patience. Trust.” — three words that apply equally to your hair journey and to life.
Coming next month: The truth about why your hair feels like it stopped growing — and what is actually happening.
